[15] "Our ancester" who is reputed to have come from Banff via Strathdon, where
he married the daughter of a local farmer, and finished up in Gomersal, where
he helped to build the new railway, "linking the outside world to
civilisation" (JDS).

[19] Came to Birkenhead to help dig out the first Mersey Tunnel. Had several
children but JDS only met two, Sadie & Jim, who "came over to Clarke Gardens
a time or two". Lost touch with them in early 1930's. (JDS)

[20] JDS met a few of the children in the 1920's but lost touch in the 1930's.
Believed to be still a lot of them in the Gomersal area. (JDS).
