Shotover Country Park is home to a number of memorials
commemorating people who have had a special fondness for the area. This section of the Shotover web site
records all the memorials known to your web master. The technique used is based on that developed for
Oxfordshire Family History Society (OFHS), to record the monuments in Oxfordshire's Churchyards for distribution
on CD. To date (2017) more than 40 churchyards have been recorded in this way and details can be found on
the OFHS web site at
http://monuments.oxfordshirefhs.org.uk
The Method Used is to devote a separate page to each memorial. This includes one or more photographs of the memorial, together with the full text of the dedication and frequently additional notes about the person commemorated. Clicking any photograph with your mouse will take you through a succession of the available images. A Plan of the Country Park shows the position of each of the memorials, indicated by a red number. Clicking the number will automatically take you to the page devoted to that memorial. An Index of Names allows you to identify the number for each monument by the name of the person commemorated. Again clicking the number will automatically take you to the page devoted to that memorial.
